THE ARTISTIC TRAVELS OF AN AUSTRALIAN PAINTER

Jennifer Harnett's Australian Art Tour has come to an end... so has her stay in Lismore, Northern NSW.

"I have found some truly beautiful and awe inspiring places this trip, am very thankful for all the wonderful experiences I've had and look forward to the adventure continuing!"

Jessica’s Birthday

Oh, how I wish I hadn’t lost my camera!
Jessi & I had some of the funniest & fun-est adventures yesterday.

Picnic & Swimming
I put together a picnic dinner, we grabbed a couple of bottles of wine and went in search of  one of the local swimming holes. We ended up at Cedar Creek rock pools, chosen for it’s small rock waterfalls with spa like massage qualities. What started out as a beautiful warm afternoon, ended with a wild rain, thunder & lightning shower (not to worry we were sensible and hopped out once the lightning started) :D

Trees & Leeches
Our road home was blocked by a few fallen trees from the brief storm. So there we were, still in our bathers, clearing the road, exposing our flesh to parasitic leeches, scratching branches and cooling rain… and horror of horrors, not only were we well bruised, scratched, leeched and laughing, but Jessica had the misfortune of one evil leech latching onto one of her eye-balls! So disgusting and unbelievably vile!

Luckily we only found that out after we had stopped at the local pub…

Local Pub
Stopping to pick up more grog, still in our swimsuits, we dashed through the continuing rain, only to find that the power had been out for the past half hour! The pub of course was still open with a handful of locals still hanging at the bar, either drinking inside in the dark or outside on the front porch.  We had to search the fridges & shelves of wine with a flashlight!

Banana Cake!
Returning home to enjoy a home baked banana cake, compliments of Monique & Maya!

As I said, truly wish I hadn’t misplaced my camera!

The Farm - Barkers Vale, Northern NSW

Have arrived at the Farm in Barkers Vale, where I am staying with my girlfriend Jessica for the next month or so. Minimal telephone and internet reception, finances at another all time low… A great time to knuckle down, refocus, drink in the fresh country air and get to know the locals.

Already having some interesting adventures with some of the unconventional locals, human and otherwise… got bit by a territorial catfish, and the FROGS, the frogs are everywhere! Hanging out in the rainwater tank, singing us all to sleep, hopping through the house, hanging out at the kitchen window… all shapes & sizes, one as small as your smallest fingernail! A few flutter-bys, any number of leeches (it’s rare to see me out of my gum boots!), a few nasty bull ants roaming around and lets not forget the abundant mosquitoes, midges and ticks!

Got washed out of my campervan by rain a couple of days this first week, Mr.R has a few more leaks to fix than I first realized….

10 Days in Sydney

Although I had been slightly dreading the time spent there, it turned out to be a fabulous visit!

Short, busy & sweet. I managed to get a lot accomplished in a relatively short period of time; caught up with great friends, helped to celebrate the Great Ned's birthday, enjoyed the fabulously hot weather and revisited a handful of my favorite haunts....spent alot of time on the cliffs of CurlCurl :D

Mr.Rainbow even got a major tune up and is now running better than ever, well prepared for the big drive back to Barkers Vale & Jessica.

Daza's Adventures

WOW!  What an amazing two weeks!

Darren’s visit / road trip turned out awesome, with barely a glimmer of rain the entire time he was here. Plenty of photos and lots of fun :D

After a couple of days on the Gold Coast we made our way south to NSW and inland to Jessica's place at Barkers Vale, near Nimbin.

Twisting our way back to the coast through Bangalow to Byron Bay and the easternmost point on the main land of Australia.

Daza on top of the easternmost point!

Continueing south along the coast we stopped at an amazing lookout near Sawtell....

...then on to South West Rocks...

Crescent Head and Racecourse campground where we met Guy & Sarah, a lovely Aussie couple who teamed up with us for the last leg of the trip, introducing us to Port Macquaire & it’s beaches.

Who then continued with us back inland to the Hunter Valley, one of Australia’s well known wine regions, ending with a beautiful countryside drive into Sydney.

Mr.Rainbow did a fabulous job of getting Darren & I safely from the Gold Coast to Sydney :D
