ROAD TRIPP'N III

Sydney

A weekend in Sydney is the perfect amount of time spent, stayed busy & entertained, got to hang out at my favorite cliff side walk & beach, CurlCurl and met up with old friends :D

Le Kiosk :: Restaurant at Shelly Beach.
After 9 years of wanting to go, I FINALLY went! Delicious.

But as always I forget to take pics of friends & places where I’ve already been, so there’s not too many of those to share.

ROAD TRIPP'N I

Northern NSW to Sydney

Mr. Rainbow has well & truly been taking me through his paces these last couple of months…

After a successful mini road trip to the Gold Coast a few weekends back and one final check-up with the mechanics, I feel Mr. Rainbow is ready for a slightly larger test drive....

… we’re driving back to Sydney!

Oh! But what a very different Mr.Rainbow he is this time!

Mr.Rainbow on our first trip to Sydney together in Jan.2011

Slightly out of shape, but harvest gold, tidy & clean.

He's all kitted out now! Spruced up & painted in rainbow fashion, beautiful & homey feeling and running spectacularly well after all the work that has been done on him.

But alas! No Darren to keep me company... this time it’ll just be Mr.Rainbow, CeeCee & I.  We’ve decided to travel via the inland route instead of the coastal Pacific Hwy, so we can explore some new countryside! YAY!

DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL

Serpentine Community Gallery, Lismore, Northern NSW

"Murder in the Dark"
Nicole Raward

My first time officially curate-ing a show! Again I really wish all my family & friends in Canada could've been here...

But for all those friends in Australia who may have missed the opening night, “Dark Night of the Soul” is a group exhibition that will be on display at the Serpentine until the 27th of August and I’ll be there every Thursday :D

"The Mirror Within"
Corinne Batt-Rawden

“When you lose faith & question your beliefs, your connection to the Earth – the whole meaning of your life – these are dark times. This is a journey of loneliness, a spiritual crisis. This is the dark night of the soul.

The light at the end of the tunnel is the spiritual maturity you acquire through surviving and the consequent reunion with the Goddess, the Universe and yourself.

“Dark Night of the Soul” bears witness to that journey through a diversity of works.”

"What Lies Beyond the Visible I"
Michelle Miller

My own personal darkness... "Courants d'Obscurite"

Thankfully the exhibition didn't hold all doom & gloom, we received a fair few peices filled with light, hope & whimsy...

The whimsical display.

The central painting, "Lost in Metaphor"by Tricky was by far my favorite painting of the show.
I received some of the best constructive criticism in regards to this series;

1. When hanging in this fashion it automatically links the artworks together as a series in the viewer's mind... even if they are all by different artists.

2. The two paintings directly adjacent to "Lost in Metaphor" actually detract from the overall display; their colours, their subject matter and the lack of a sense of whimsy in them do not match the other five pieces.

A ray of hope in the darkness... Paintings by Shaun Murphy

And my other favorite! The fish that got away... fading in & out of darkness... one I reckon all the boys will be able to relate to :P

HOMELEIGH SIDESHOW

My Second Solo Art Exhibition

Art Contemplation :: Co-hosts, Talitha & I

This exhibition was a lovely intimate affair, held in conjunction with Talitha’s houseparty in Homeleigh, Northern NSW. A divine evening of ‘Delicious Music’, ‘Creative Dance’ and ‘Live Art’.

 "An Infinity of Silence"

Best pic of the evening, thanks Sal!

In the eye of the storm... Myraine & "Breaking the Chains of Bondage"

Talitha

Many thanks to Talitha for hosting the evening, for Shey & her sharing their music, home & introducing my art to yet another lovely group of open-minded individuals.

The stunning photography of the evening was provided by Sally Fields.
